Coarse orchard grass hay has thicker stems and longer seed heads than soft orchard grass, creating a texture close to coarse timothy. It is intended for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small herbivores that benefit from more chewing resistance.

Because orchard grass is a different plant species from timothy, it may suit some pets or caregivers managing a timothy allergy. Consult your veterinarian and watch for symptoms when changing hay.

Key Features

  • High-fiber grass hay supports healthy digestion, steady weight and natural dental wear as part of a grass-hay diet.
  • Long strands support natural foraging, while visual inspection and hand packing help minimize dust and fines.
  • Keep grass hay available at all times. Transition gradually by mixing the old and new hay over 7–14 days, then monitor appetite and droppings.
  • Store in a cool, dry place with good airflow. Discard hay that smells musty, feels damp or looks unusually discolored.

  • Texture: Thick stems, long seed heads and more chewing resistance than soft orchard grass.
  • Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and similar small herbivores.

Younger animals, nursing mothers and pets with health concerns may need different portions, so consult your veterinarian when unsure.
