• The included habitat functions as an enclosure. Place the cup with its lid facing down so the hornworms crawl up the screen to their food while waste falls onto the lid for easier cleaning. Maintain airflow around the lid for adequate ventilation.
• Manage the worms’ growth rate through temperature: keep them above 80°F for faster growth, at 72°F for normal growth or at 50°F for slower growth.
• Hornworms generally have a good calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, so calcium dusting is not normally needed before feeding. Because they are lower in protein and fiber, feeding too many can result in runny stools. Serve them as part of a varied insect diet.
• Never feed wild hornworms to your pets. Plants eaten by wild hornworms can be toxic and may make a pet very sick.
