The Madagascar lace plant is an easy live aquarium plant that grows tall and is suited to mid-to-background placement under low-to-medium light.
This Madagascar-native Aponogeton is known for leaves that develop a striking skeletal latticework structure, giving planted aquariums a distinctive natural look.
As a perennial, it may lose most of its leaves during a seasonal rest period, typically in summer, before producing new and larger leaves around fall.
Key Features
- Its tall growth and unusual open leaf structure make it suitable for the middle or background of a planted aquarium.
- The recommended lighting range is 10–35 PAR, covering low-to-medium-light aquarium conditions.
- No added CO2 is required, and the stated skill level is easy.
- Liquid fertilizer is preferred, specifically Easy Green Fertilizer.
- When planting, leave approximately half of the bulb above the substrate instead of burying it completely.
- Natural size variation should be expected because each plant is a natural product.
- This live plant cannot be shipped to Hawaii or Alaska.
